Fossil Creek

Yesterday I went on a trip to Fossil Creek, Arizona and had a great time. It was a great day trip (about 2 hours from where I live).
If you live in Arizona, and are planning to make a trip here is some advice:
  • Go early! The park will be blocked off it to many people are down by the creek. This happens especially on holidays
  • There are two very viable options at the creek: drive right down to the creek and swim (which is what we did) or park at the top of the mountain (Fossil Springs Rd) and hike about four miles down to the spring and falls. The falls tend to be more crowded, but also more beautiful.
  • The road: Do Not be suprised by just how bad the roads really are. It is slow and bumpy ride all the the way down. If you are going to drive right up to the creek instead of hiking, the road is about 7-10 miles of jumpy ride and takes around 15-20 minutes
  • You can do this drive in a compact car, but if you have the option, an suv or truck would be more capible
  • Check the weather before you go, you dont want to get stuck down at the creek in your compact car if it rains
  • Bring your bathing suit! and your hiking shoes!
  • Bring lunch, its a long and bumpy road you dont want to travel back until you leave, so pack good snacks
  • Bring the kids, and dogs if you want

This place was such a beautiful trip! The water is a little chilly, but perfect after a short hike. Another amazing thing was all the wildlife you get to see!

Without further ado, here are a few of the pictures I took of Fossil Creek:

Photoshoot Day

One of my favorite hobbies is photoshoots. I find a friend who wants to be my model and then a spot that is interesting, and voila! We commonly call this time "FacebookPhotoshoot" time (since most of the photos go on facebook).
Here's how the even usually plays out:
Day one - Photo day! It usually takes about two or three hours take the photos (keeping in mind that we are changing outfits and locations). When were finally finished I upload the photos and delete the ones I hate.
Day two - I go through the photos and decide which ones are unique or just really beautiful. These are put in a separate folder to be edited.
Day three - I decided that I should actually be concentrating on my homework and give up photography for the day :)
Day four thru day seven - I finally take the time to edit my photos and post them (here, on my flickr, and facebook)
So the whole process takes about a week for me. I usually take anywhere from 300-500 pictures, and end up choosing around 5-8 that I love.
Check back in a few days to see what becomes of my photoshoot!

Is Anyone Out There?

I suppose the weirdest part of having a blog is writing to no one in particular. At this point I don't have any followers so its as though I'm conversing with myself. How weird is that?! I guess for now i will just pretend your there.
Here are a few of my favorite photos:

NEW YORK

Finally, after many months of planning, I went on a trip to New York. My mom, sister, and our housemate, accompanied me. The trip of course was extrodanary, but I shouldn't have to tell you this! I'm just going to let my photographs speak for themselves. Here are just a few (out of the 400 pictures) I took:
